?Congregational Meetings
Special congregation meetings will be held at the Houston Campus (Samuel Lutheran Church), November 24, right after the 10 am service. Immanuel, Our Savior’s, St Luke’s, and Samuel Lutheran Churches will each have separate meetings.
The purpose of these meetings is to adopt the Constitution of Harbor of Grace Lutheran Church to substitute for our individual constitutions.

Official Notice of Special Constituting Meeting of
Harbor of Grace Lutheran Church
The purposes of this meeting is to accomplish the following in order to create Harbor of Grace Lutheran Church. Items of business are to
•  Adopt the constitution of Harbor of Grace Lutheran Church
•  Adopt any measures required to form the legal and ecclesiastical entity to be called Harbor of Grace Lutheran Church
•  Adopt the budget of Harbor of Grace Lutheran Church
•  Call Pastor Jane Mountain as Transitional Lead Pastor
•  Approve the contract of Pastor Chris Anderson as Associate Pastor
•  Elect the transitional council of Harbor of Grace Lutheran Church
•  Transfer assets and liabilities of Immanuel, Our Savior’s, St Luke’s, and Samuel Lutheran Churches to Harbor of Grace Lutheran Church
If you are a voting member of any of the four churches, you are automatically a voting member for the constituting meeting of Harbor of Grace Lutheran Church. All memberships of constituent congregations will be transferred to Harbor of Grace Lutheran Church unless a member notifies their current church in writing that they do not want their membership transferred.

Sunday, November 24 - Joint Worship-10am at Houston Campus (Samuel) - Day of celebration when Harbor of Grace will be formed!

Wednesday, November 27 - Thanksgiving Eve, Service at HG Norton Campus (St. Luke's)  Soup & Pie at 6:15; Worship at 7:00 o.m.



Holiday Breads
A fund-raising event to support the (CHGS) Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies-Muskegon
The mission of CHGS: teach values to diffuse hate and encourage diversity through commemoration and education using the Holocaust and other genocides as a lens through which to reflect, learn and think critically and apply lessons learned from the Holocaust and genocide and personal strength.  Please see bulletin boards for more information and order forms.
Christmas Dinner at Houston Campus (Samuel) - December 8th
Sunday, December 8
5:30p.m. - Social time with appetizers
6:00 p.m. - Dinner will begin at 6:00 p.m.
Adult tickets are $12.00; children 5-12 are
$8.00; and children under 5 are free.
Menu: ham, potatoes, vegetable, salad, rolls, and dessert.
Tickets will be on sale before and after worship at Samuel or
from Samuel's office beginning on November 17th. Deadline
for ticket sales will be Wednesday, December 4th.
The Mitten Tree  The “Mitten Tree” will be up in November at the Southern Avenue site of Harbor of Grace Lutheran Church.  This tree will be “decorated” with donations of mittens, hats, and scarves for the school children of Muskegon schools.  Everything is so much appreciated in the winter months.  Thank you for caring about our children.   
Joint Thanksgiving Service will be held on Wednesday, November  27th
at Harbor of Grace, Norton Campus, (St. Luke’s).  6:15 p.m. – Soup Supper;
7:15 p.m. – Worship Service

We are a congregation that has always graciously shared God’s many blessings to us with our neighbors in need in our community. This Christmas season we are asking for your help in providing gifts for families that are struggling to make this a merry Christmas for their children. We are adopting our families this year through Every Women's Place. We will be buying gifts for the children and parent in each family and have set a limit of $25.00 per person. 
Our “Blessings” tree will be located in the entryway off from the parking lot.
The tags on the tree will list the age of the recipient and 2 or 3 choices of items to purchase. If you don’t wish to shop but still wish to purchase a gift, please consider a cash donation. You may use one of the envelopes in the pews and place your donation in the offering plate. Please mark “Blessings Tree” on your envelope and someone will be happy to do the shopping for you. 
Please return your gifts by Sunday, December 16th so we will have time to deliver them to the families. Wrapped gifts should be placed under the tree in our parish hall. Please tape the tag to the gift so we can match them up to the recipient.  
Thank you in advance for being a blessing in a child or a family's life this Christmas. God's grace and peace be with you in the blessed season and always.

Thanksgiving Baskets at Houston Campus (Samuel)
For the past several years we have asked for your help in providing Thanksgiving baskets to needy families in our community and you have responded very generously.  Because of your donations, we have been able to provide upwards of 20 Thanksgiving baskets each year.
We are asking you to donate one item every week for six weeks using the following schedule:
October 20 – Bring one box of instant mashed potatoes
October 27 – Bring one jar or package of gravy mix
November 3 – Bring one box or bag of stuffing mix
November 10 – Bring one boxed dessert mix
November 17 - Bring one box of roll mix or refrigerated or frozen rolls

How do I give after November 24, when Harbor of Grace is created? 
Starting Monday, Nov 25,  your checks should be made out to Harbor of Grace
  • If you give regularly through Vanco Simply Giving, your gifts will automatically transfer to Harbor of Grace on Nov 25. You do not need to do anything to make this happen,
  • Donors who use the Vanco GivePlus app, may select Harbor of Grace from "Change Church" on the home screen, starting Nov 25.
  • Donors may also use the new Vanco WebPay full/mobile site starting Nov 25. We will put a donate button on our website and a link in future emails and newsletters.

Upcoming Food Trucks
Saturday, December 14 - 1:00 p.m.

Volunteers are always needed and appreciated!  Please come prepared for the weather.....sun screen, hats, rain coat, boots, mittens...whatever the weather brings  This is an outdoor event.   Volunteers are asked to be at church approximately 5:00p.m. for the Wednesday trucks and 12:00 noon for the Saturday truck.

Samuel wants to inform you that we will be offering electronic giving as a way to automate your regular weekly offering. Electronic giving offers convenience for individual congregation members and provides much-needed donation consistency for our congregation.  Authorization forms are available on the table in the narthex (lobby) or from Melissa Pfenning, Merry Nyblade, or the church office.   By filling out the form you will be authorizing your financial institution to electronically deposit the amount of money you choose to Samuel Lutheran Church.   You will have a choice of depositing weekly (on Monday), monthly on the 1st, or monthly on the 15th.  At the present time we have two (2) funds set up for you to choose from: the Current Fund and the Maintenance & Repair Fund.
